A native of Bear Lake County, Idaho, Nadene
R. Carter has been fascinated with words since a small child.
Everyone has defining moments in their lives. Discovering the
world of books was one such moment for Nadene. She still
remembers the first time she walked into the town library near
her school and saw all those shelves full of books.
An important
part of this equation was the librarian. Her name was Clevonia
Ramey. After Nadene read a book, she would take it back and
check out another. Instead of simply doing her librarian duties,
Mrs. Ramey asked Nadene questions about the book she had just
read, none of which could be answered with a simple yes or no.
They were probing questions about the characters and about the
events in the book that made her think about the story on
several levels. Soon, Nadene began to anticipate the librarian’s
questions and to read accordingly. Today, that’s called reading
like a writer.
Nadene has worked in:
Technical publications for a government contractor;
Marketing and promotions director for a cosmetic company and
served as editor/publisher of their corporate magazine. She also
created the company’s slick product promotion pieces and other
sales literature;
Assistant to the president of an architectural firm where she
created marketing proposals in the bidding process for new work. |
